The Danger of Remaining Silent on Mental Health

* I originally wrote this as a guest post for Brian Cuban’s column which covers various mental health issues, then I figured I would post it as a jumping point for my own blog as well. I am providing the links to the original publications as well. As an attorney, I’m overly aware that I need to exercise caution when determining what to discuss on social media. I know to think before speaking, I know to do my research, and I know to avoid publishing anything inappropriate. I do talk about mental health often and publicly, and I refuse to heed any unsolicited advice admonishing me to delete my content on this important, yet controversial topic. Smashing the Mental Health Stigma At Work I originally posted this here on TheMighty  which is an online community that has a mental health area of focus with a similar mission to mine.  Hi all, My name is Aly and I have bee n suffering from severe but high functional depression and anxiety for nearly as long as I can remember. A lot of times this has major effects on my motivation, but I’ve finally committed to working on a project in support of those affected by mental illness in any way having increased success in the workplace.  I personally know that an astronomical amount of people would benefit from myself, and am going to share my own mental health stories in furtherance of my mission. This is a blog for a new project I am working on regarding improving the likelihood of success for people affected by mental health issues in the workplace. I have been wanting to get moving on this for a long time and I decided that 2019 is going to be the year I really make a difference with this project. I'm looking forward to it.
